Fall for Color

As a woman who prefers pastels and bold colors over earthy or muted tones, I am here to let you know that there is no reason why your wardrobe can't be colorful all year long, especially when transitioning into fall. Bolder, brighter colors have actually been on the rise the past few fall seasons. Last year pastel was all the rage, and this year I have seen jewel tones, and even neon, all over the runway and fashion mags. I created a fun fall look which incorporates a lot of color, just to show you how easy it can be. Keep reading to find out what went into styling this outfit.

I started with this dress from Shabby Apple, knowing that I wanted to accessorize it with a color that was complimentary to the teal polka dots. Complimentary colors are great, because when they are paired together they have a way of canceling each-other out, making them less shocking to the eye. The coral and teal colors used in this outfit have a nice way of drawing attention, while still remaining balanced.

Seeing as this dress is contemporary with a retro vibe, it only seemed appropriate to mix in some vintage elements. Mixing modern with vintage is a great way to give your outfit a little bit of charm. The only vintage items in this outfit are the cardigan and the purse, leaving the rest of my look modern, as to not overplay the retro feel.

The last thing  I wanted to do with this ensemble was to step outside of my comfort zone. Sure this outfit may look great if I had not worn the socks, but it's that little bit of extra that really sets this look apart. And a purse full of flowers may seem impractical, but it definitely got me a bunch of compliments!
