The past two fall seasons faux fur has been one of the hottest must wear trends. This year colored fur is where it's at, which is something I can fully stand behind. Not only is the fluffy stuff a little over the top, but add bold colors into the mix, and you've got yourself a head turning look. I have been very inspired by the designer fur look, especially Fendi's pre fall 2015 collection. I created a unique look influenced by the Fendi pre fall collection, and even made a tutorial to share with you on how to make your own monster shirt.
I put together this small inspiration board to really narrow down the colors and silhouette I wanted to use for this look. I am a firm believer in wearing colors all year long, especially in fall and winter, when you can really stand out from the sea of black, grey, and brown. I decided that contrasting colors of royal blue, pink, and red would work best, and the touch of black in the blouse really helps to connect it all together.
Now, here comes the fun part! I am going to teach you how to make this insanely easy, and incredibly quirky monster top. It requires very little time to put together, which is always a plus when it comes to crafting. Keep on reading below if you are ready to learn how to make your own...
Needle & thread
Cut out two pieces of felt using the eye template. Choose a placement for the felt eye pieces on your shirt, and sew on using a sewing machine.
Cut two pieces of your feather boa the same length as the white under-eye pieces. Curve the boa pieces over the white bottoms to create two circle shapes. Use a needle and thread to stitch on the feather boa to your shirt. And just like that, you have your very own monster shirt!
I am obsessed with my top and want to make about a hundred more in different colorways! It would be really fun as a dress too, or can even be something to add to a purse or bag as shown on my inspiration board. Like I say with all my crafts, if you use your imagination, the possibilities are endless!
